FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why Should I Hire You?
Beyond finding the right voice for your project there are other important considerations including experience, knowledge, talent, ability, and the resources to provide a quality product.  I can deliver in all these areas.

In addition to voicing your project I can also edit it to your specifications and even add a creative spin if you desire.  I am your one-stop source for voice-overs.

What are Your Rates?
There are many variables in determining the rate for a project.  How and where the project will be used, time and difficulty to complete, and deadline are all considerations.  Working out of my own studio makes it possible to keep my rates fair and competitive without sacrificing quality.

Audio Book rates are determined on a "per finished hour" basis and not the actual time it takes to complete the recording.  Once a publisher or author gives me a word count and/or page count I can offer an estimate of both the finished recording time and how long it will take to complete the project.

What is Involved in Recording an Audio Book?
My first step in recording an audio book is to record several random pages from the book and send them to the client for review.  Once a style is agreed upon then I begin recording the book. An individual file is created for each page making for easier touchup editing.  Throughout the project completed chapters are uploaded to my ftp site for the client to monitor for errors.  It has been my experience that authors frequently make changes to their manuscripts or find passages they want reread during the audio recording process.  The "one file per page" technique makes that likelikhood easier to accomodate.

My primary objective is that there are no surprises for the client at the end of the recording.  I engage the participation of the client from beginning to end.

Can You Cut Me a Deal?
Possibly.  If there are more projects down the road then I will be happy to work out a reduced rate for a long term relationship.  I generally give a price break to college students, churches, and non-profit organizations.  If yours is a unique situation I am willing to listen.  There's a good chance we can work something out.

What About Your Studio?
I am committed to staying on the cutting edge of audio recording technology.  My studio is a  work in progress as I am constantly adding new audio and computer equipment to keep in pace with the industry.

My earliest training was as a musician which I believe has made me very sensitive to quality sound.  Currently I use a Rode NT2-A microphone, HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC, Eurorack UB802 Mixer, using the following audio production programs: Adobe Audition, Samplitude Music Studio, and AVS Audio Editor.

I am a Voice Talent Professional.  Can You Help Me?
As a professional musician I learned the value of tweaking skills with the help of other professionals.  Even today I look to the stars of the voice-over industry for education and inspiration.  Call me for a consultation to discuss ways to up your level of performance.

What is Your Policy On Content?
It occurred to me recently as I was recording an audio book that I was doing one of those things for which I will be remembered.  My barometer simply is being true to myself and never violating my personal system of beliefs and principals for the sake of a paycheck.  Put simply, I steer away from potentially offensive material and adults-only manuscripts.
